
I could go on a rant right now, but I decided to present our local Turkey Dinner.
I was prompted to post this because my father-in-law participated in a challenge at his Gym. They figured that the traditional Thanksgiving dinner was around 4,500 calories and the challenge was to burn off 4,500 calories before the Holiday Dinner. Here is the flyer for his contest. Well Jenn and I responded. You're going to be in for a challenge if you want to eat 4,500 calories at our dinner. This is a typical dinner with all of the butter marshmallows and high fructose con syrup you can enjoy.. Do you realize that the average diet should contain less that 2,000 calories a day?? And we wonder why there is an obesity epidemic? Well here is how we are trying to take care of our temples, our bodies.
First we got a Pasture ranged, organic, happy turkey. Brined it in local herbs and spices (like this rosemary from my garden, note the abalone shell: That's procuring your own food).
Finally, where the hell is the dessert? We have cheese cake. And how is that healthy? Well try pumpkin, tofu cheesecake with homemade grahm cracker crust. Mind you Jenns dad has diabetes so all of these dishes are low cal and low sugar.
Finally, there is the digestif. For the night cap, Jenn and I have recently brewed one of the best batches of fresh pressed hard cider to date (I will do some beer posts). Well, good thoughts to all! Be thankful. Enjoy a good glass of cider and reflect. Peace.

Awesome! Happy Thanksgiving to you two! I love your meal and wish that we could have shared it with you. I am still hoping that we can share a nice glass of that cider.
I am thankful that we can reconnect and stay connected though thousands of miles separate us. In our souls, we feel as if we live right next door.
